Vocational Education Introduced by NEP 2020
The vocational education introduced by NEP 2020 will be offered with general education in all secondary and senior secondary schools.
The government offers these courses to the government and government-aided institutes of the country. Under the NSQF scheme, the government plans of offering vocational courses to students from 9th to 12th in schools.
Types of Vocational Courses-
- Apprenticeship Programs-
These are the programs specific to the trades that go on for 4-5 years. In this, the student who has enrolled for the course learns directly under the supervision of a professional. Apart from the high-quality learning and skill development, they get compensated some amount for their work. These types of learning are common in professions that require high skills.
- Post Secondary Vocational School
This gives an option of night and weekend courses to the students who can learn different skills and courses in their free time. They give vocational degrees and certificates to the students after completion.
- Tech Prep Education
These are the intermediate courses between secondary and post-secondary education to prepare students for technologically advanced careers and the requirement of skilled professionals across the globe. After the course completion, the students gain an associate degree or certificate in a field of study.
- High School CTE Program
These courses are for high school students who want to gain work experience in a variety of fields along with their academics. They enable the students to explore different courses and career options for their future.
The vocational training courses are offered by NEP 2020 in government and government-aided institutes for the development of skills among students in a specific field or industry. Apart from training the students in higher classes, the NEP 2020 has introduced ECCE for the development of the students from age of one to 8 years.
