She was a detective with the Endwell Police Department. She was from Endwell and had two children aged 11 and 8 years old at the time of her death. Her husband is a retired police officer who saw his wife for the last time on Monday afternoon before heading out to work that evening at 7 pm sharp (the beginning of his shift). He did not know she would be driving their vehicle until after he left for work at 3 pm but did not hear any news about it until 4:45 pm when he called back home because there were people outside asking questions about something they saw on TV (which wasn’t even true).

She was one of four officers who responded to a call on June 10, 2011, from a woman who said her ex-boyfriend had been stalking her. The caller told police that she saw him driving past her house several times and he tried to enter it while she was inside with their kids. She also said he had threatened to kill himself if she didn’t return his calls or text messages.

The Binghamton Sertoma Club headquarters, where she worked, was decked out in lights and tinsel, with a tree and Santa Claus dressed up as an elf. Detective Maldonado helped decorate the clubhouse every year from Thanksgiving until New Year’s Day.
She also had a home that reflected her love of design. It featured antiques and collectibles displayed throughout the house. Including photos taken by her husband, a professional photographer who specialized in portrait photography, and paintings by local artists that were hung on walls throughout their home.

She had hundreds of followers and often posted pictures from her daily life as well as pictures of her travels and adventures with her husband.
