Drawing a Cliff
Start by drawing a curved line. It forms the top of the first cliff.
Draw a string of curved lines meeting the top of the first cliff.
Draw another curved line, allowing the top of the cliff to overcome. It forms the cliff side.
Draw another curved line, this time connecting the edge of the cliff to the bottom of the cliff. The cliff must have a triangular shape.
Texture the face of the cliff. Draw curved lines that descend from the top of the cliff and up the cliff side. At the base of the lines, shade the small triangles.
Use wavy curved lines to describe the triangular shape of the second cliff.
Draw a curved line on the top of the second cliff, forming the second cliff.
Draw curved lines under the top of the cliff and up, texturizing the cliff—Shand small triangles at the base of each line. Sketch a curved line between the two cliffs, showing the mountainous horizon.
Use a series of large and small “U” lines to create a soft cloud line in the sky. Then draw irregular, large and small forms rounded to indicate scattered rocks on the cliffs.
Color your cliff and canyon draw. Such cliffs are usually brown or reddish. A remarkable exception is Dover’s white cliffs in England. They owe their unusual appearance to the presence of chalk on the rocks.
