The demand for professionals

Workers who are qualified in this area usually have a salary well above average and have no problems finding a job. Keep in mind that demand and salary will vary the most depending on education and location.

First of all, there are usually no courses that are specifically required for the construction and property maintenance profession. This is a very skill-intensive career and you will find that you get your jobs based on your skills. If so, you may want to redesign your resume to be a competency-based one. However, this does not mean that some coursework is completely excluded.

Businesses, like government buildings, need an army of maintenance workers.

While a lot of work becomes easy

When you start a career in building and grounds maintenance you will find that most of the time you have to be a problem solver or a troubleshooter. While much of the work is just plain maintenance, you might be surprised at how much time you’re forced to be proactive and attend to issues that fall outside of what you would expect in a simple maintenance job. The more you can offer, the more demand there will be for your services and the higher your salary.
